The 46th annual Toronto International Storytelling Festival returns this year, bringing together perennial favourites and new offerings around the theme of “Lost Rivers, Lost Stories.” Which stories have been overlooked and overshadowed, and how can we bring them to the surface? What can we learn from the stories that have drifted to the bottom of the riverbed? This year, we’ll bring our attention to the shared places and spaces we inhabit, and to the stories and histories that are buried right beneath our feet.
This year’s festival is scheduled for May 2-4. Storytelling Toronto will host a free symposium on Friday May 2nd, where they’ll offer a full day of presentations, talks and panel discussions that explore contemporary issues facing storytellers today. The weekend will continue with daytime events, evening concerts, and a free family day at The Well, this year’s venue partner. Artistic Advisors Mariella Bertelli, Laurie Malabar and Dan Yashinsky have helped to bring exceptional talent to this year’s events, including Ron Evans, Shayna Jones, Stéphanie Bénéteau, Teajai Travis, Lost Rivers Toronto, Queers in your Ears, and many more gifted tellers.
