Giragi is the highly anticipated new concept from Chef Sebouh Yacoubian and his brothers, the family behind Taline – Rosedale’s beloved Armenian restaurant and the only Armenian restaurant in Canada recognized by the MICHELIN Guide. Where Taline is a tribute to their late mother, Giragi is a celebration of their father and the spirit of family Sundays in an Armenian household. Rooted in tradition, warmth, and flavour, Giragi brings Armenian and Lebanese-style kebab sandwiches and bowls to The Well, filling a gap in Toronto’s fast-casual scene with soul, authenticity, and fire-grilled excellence.
The inspiration for Giragi is deeply personal. While Taline honours the brothers’ mother, who passed away unexpectedly when Chef Sebouh was just 16, Giragi shines a spotlight on their father—the man always standing in front of the grill, cooking kebabs, and bringing everyone together. The idea for Giragi was born in the summer of 2023, as a backyard-style BBQ pop-up in the alley behind Taline. Guests kept asking for kebabs, associating Armenian and Lebanese cuisine with the smoky, satisfying flavours of grilled meat. The Yacoubians answered with something fun, interactive, and community-driven—and the neighbourhood responded with enthusiasm. Every weekend, the pop-up sold out, confirming there was something special that deserved a permanent home.
In Armenian, Giragi means “Sunday”—a day of rest, family, and gathering. It’s when tables overflow, conversations linger, and kebabs are grilled to perfection. Giragi captures this essence, even in a fast-casual format, offering comfort, quality, and tradition—whether you’re grabbing a sandwich on the go or sitting down to savour a bowl. At its core, Giragi is about family, fire, and flavour—a reflection of the Yacoubian family’s commitment to telling their story through food with warmth, integrity, and a deep love for their culture.
