Our team’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of sustainable architecture has truly paid off, setting a new standard for environmentally responsible development in the heart of Toronto. The Well is not just a series of building; it’s a living, breathing example of how we can create thriving urban spaces while minimizing our ecological footprint.
We are proud to have received LEED Platinum Certification from the CAGBC | Canada Green Building Council. This achievement is a testament to the dedicated efforts, distinctive vision, and unparalleled partnership between RioCan and Allied. In creating the city’s inaugural integrated mixed-use project, The Well’s Development Planning and Construction team prioritized sustainable practices.
Through a partnership with Enwave Energy Corporation (Enwave) the project was quite literally built on a foundation of sustainability. A new energy storage facility housed at The Well extends the existing Deep Lake Water Cooling and hot water distribution networks, enabling the westward expansion of Enwave’s systems and giving both The Well and surrounding communities access to sustainable cooling and heating solutions.
Achieving LEED Platinum certification for commercial spaces is a further testament to the team’s unwavering commitment to sustainability. Noteworthy practices focus on sustainable site attributes, energy and water efficiency, conscientious material selection, effective resource utilization, and a dedicated emphasis on maintaining indoor environmental quality.
